Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration with a minor in computer science or information systems, or a closely related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Four years of progressively responsible information technology support experience, including hardware deployment, software installation, configuration, and management in a client services support environment.
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record, with fewer than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Knowledge of information processes and network technologies, hardware platforms, server and workstation software applications, configurations, peripherals, and troubleshooting and diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of computers, servers, printers, mobile devices, wireless access points, and other department-supported hardware.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows, Group Policy Management, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft Server, Microsoft PowerShell, security software and tools, and other department-supported software.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in one-on-one and teaching situations.
  • Ability to write clear, usable instructions for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining product quality.
  • Knowledge and experience with project management principles and best practices.
  • Ability to apply innovative thinking and knowledge of emerging technologies to address end-user and customer needs.
  • Ability to assess and solve complex problems, devise methodologies and solutions, perform analyses, relate relevant hardware and software information to data management and analysis applications, and interpret results.
Responsibilities
  • Provide basic and advanced technical support to DNRC employees for software, hardware, system access, and other technology-based systems and tools.
  • Troubleshoot software applications and hardware issues by researching solutions, working with vendors and the State Information Technology Services Division, and collaborating with the team.
  • Manage assigned applications, software, computer systems, mobile devices, network tools and features, security tools and features, and other information technology systems.
  • Schedule, conduct, and coordinate computer software and hardware installation and configuration.
  • Customize new or existing software and hardware and maintain or patch existing information technology systems.
  • Install, configure, back up, and maintain assigned server environments in DNRC offices throughout the state.
  • Ensure assigned information technology systems comply with State, DNRC, State Information Technology Services Division, and vendor system, security, and network standards.
  • Create, modify, update, suspend, and delete user accounts and access permissions.
  • Ensure employees have the access necessary to perform their duties and resolve system access issues.
  • Answer user questions and train users on computer policies, processes, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Create, review, and modify documentation for information technology systems, processes, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain records of technical issues, customer problems, and resolution actions.
  • Install, image, update, maintain, and wipe server, computer, and mobile hardware systems and software.
  • Install or assist with installing copier, printer, and scanner hardware and drivers.
  • Work with vendors to configure and install vendor-specific hardware or software and resolve related issues.
  • Configure hardware and software to meet State, DNRC, State Information Technology Services Division, or vendor requirements.
  • Install, configure, maintain, back up, and troubleshoot software applications used by OIT personnel.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Group Policy objects and other network-related information technology features and tools.
  • Schedule, perform, and monitor regular system maintenance and related tasks.
  • Maintain system backup, recovery, and security protocols.
  • Assist with identifying server and computer specifications and testing.
  • Test and evaluate existing server, network, and computer systems.
  • Evaluate and optimize information technology system performance.
  • Analyze, review, and implement technical tools to troubleshoot or enhance existing systems.
  • Assist software developers or network systems analysts in ensuring new systems meet organizational needs.
  • Research and develop requirements for adopting new technology.
  • Respond to security issues, resolve them when possible, and escalate them when needed.
  • Implement and monitor security patching for servers, computers, and other systems.
  • Configure security software to meet system requirements.
  • Research and review security alerts, trends, procedures, and threats.
  • Assist with computer system vulnerability assessments.
  • Analyze and recommend security enhancements for existing or planned computer systems and mobile devices.
  • Manage special projects, represent the Division or Department at meetings and conferences, and participate in ongoing training and educational programs.
